Climb

  • Full climb power (whatever is the maximum climb power your engine type would normally be set for if you were shooting for max performance climb)
  • This will record aircraft body angle (pitch) during a normal climb to see if high body angles have a great impact on cooling as the more powerful airplanes will require a higher body angle
  • Should have started takeoff with full fuel and two occupants (need assistant)
  • Have the autopilot (if installed/capable) fly IAS hold mode (to ensure a consistent digital reading and consistent airflow through the intake)
  • Let aircraft stabilize at each intermediate IAS for 20 seconds
  • Record the following data points (RPM, MP, Diff Pressure, Pitch) at the following speeds (100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150 KIAS)

Straight and Level

  • Strait and Level Cruise at 8000 FT autopilot on ALT hold mode
  • Leaned to usual cruise power (needs appropriate mixture setting for the faster speeds)
  • Let aircraft stabilize at each intermediate cruise speed for 2 minutes to ensure an accurate recording of each data point
